the archaeological museum is a small but excellent museum of the history of ibiza and formentera. it is so compact though it does have a lot of steps that a visit need only take an hour or so, but it will be a worthwhile hour, visitors gaining a useful insight into the lives of the carthaginian, roman and moorish occupants of the islands....
es canar is a lively modern resort town aimed at families. as a link with its past, there is a tiny harbor where tiny fishing boats are moored while their owners dry or mend nets. the town lies on the northern side of the headland of punta arabi and a fine two-hour walk from es canar follows the coast around punta arabi and on into santa eularia. there are boats linking the two towns for a more relaxing return trip....

just a couple of kilometres to the west of sant frangesc, cala saona is one of the more commercial of formentera's bays. it is also one of the loveliest its turquoise waters and beach framed by red cliffs and backed by pine trees, the tourist sites neatly positioned. it is an excellent place to swim and a good starting point for walks to quieter parts of the coast....
