SANTA EULARIA IBIZA

The modern seafront and harbor area of Santa Eularia show it to be a prosperous town, yet, while embracing tourism, the town has not forgotten its past. The old bridge below Puig de Missa sits besides the modern crossing that takes the main road for Eivissa over the river. Though there is some dispute over its true origins, most experts agree that the bridge was built by the Romans. One local legend maintains that it was built by the Devil and that his efforts took only a single night. So strong was this belief that it is said that many locals declined to cross the bridge after nightfall. With its elegant arches, warm stone and the mass of reeds and oleander close by, it is certainly very picturesque Near by a walkway has been built, complete with lights and welcome shady trees.
