SAN RAFAEL IBIZA

The drive to Sant Rafel (San Rafael) from Eivissa passes through beautiful country, the road lined with orange groves. Unfortunately the volume of traffic and the eccentric (not to say dangerously driving of many travelers mean that the scenery is missed by most drivers)

The village church of Sant Rafel, a graceful building, its lines reminiscent of mainland churches, dates from the 19th century. From it there is a marvelous view of Dalt Vila. Sant Rafel appeals to all visitors, but the attractions are quite diverse. Some come because the village is the island's major centre for ceramics. Much of the output from the ceramic factories can be seen in Ibiza's many souvenir shops, but there are also craft potters in the village, their work standing comparison with that of any of the island's artists.

Long after the potteries have closed (Indeed, not many hours before they open) the other major Sant Rafel tourist attraction opens its doors. This is Privilege; Ibiza's most famous disco with a capacity of 10,000 people Privilege gained status as Ku, the change of name having made no difference to either its position in the disco hierarchy or its shows. With its internationally famous DJs, its swimming pool, fountain and amazing light show not to mention the more usual disco delights a visit to Privilege is a stunning experience
