CALA SAONA BEACH  FORMENTERA

Just a couple of kilometres to the west of Sant Frangesc, Cala Saona is one of the more commercial of Formentera's bays. It is also one of the loveliest its turquoise waters and beach framed by red cliffs and backed by pine trees, the tourist sites neatly positioned. It is an excellent place to swim and a good starting point for walks to quieter parts of the coast.

Head north for a quiet clifftop walk, perhaps going as far as Punta se Sa Gavina and another well preserved watchtower. Torre se Sa Gavlna, built in the late 18th century is, unusually for the Pine Islands, open Alternatively, head west to Punta Rasa and on to Costa des Bou where solitude is almost assured.
