SANTA CATALINA CHURCH TENERIFE


The latticework gallery of the Santa Catalina Convent Church, beside the town hall, is one of several attractive architectural features. Inside, the former convent church has a silvercovered altar and baroque retablos. Notice the little revolving hatch near the side entrance in Calle Dean Palahi, used by mothers who once wished to abandon their newborn girl babies by 'donating' them anonymously to the convent, to be brought up as nuns.
