MUNICIPAL PARK TENERIFE

This delightful park full of shrubs, trees, exotic flowers, fountains and tranquil corners is the largest and probably the most beautiful urban park in the Canaries. Popular with locals, it was laid out in the 1920s and is named after the mayor of that time. He is honored by a large monument in the centre of the park. The somewhat incongruous pieces of modern sculpture are the product of an international street sculpture competition held in 1973. There is also a zoo, a play area and an intriguing floral clock. Take a break on the tiled benches, stroll the gravel pathways or get a snack at one of the little kiosks.
