CASA DEL VINO LA BARANDA TENERIFE

Usually known simply as the Casa del Vino, this superb bodega (wine cellar) situated in a converted 17th-century farmhouse makes an enjoyable and educational outing and a great excuse to stock up on a few bottles of local wine. Payment of a small charge enables visitors to taste any 10 of the 150 wines stocked here. Not simply a shop, it sets out to inform tourists about the range and qualities of Tenerife wines.

For those who want to go deeper into the subject, the building houses a small wine museum It also shows a 10-minute film on the history of wine-making on the island, and explains why here, as in many other wine regions, quality has much improved in recent years. The restaurant  has panoramic views as well as good food.
