TORRELLAFUDA

This little-visited site off the highway from Mao to Ciutadella contains a complete taula, less than 2m tall and romantically surrounded by a halo of wild olive and holm oak. Near the taula are a set of burial caves and some well-preserved defensive walls. Among the finds here was a Roman gold ring engraved with the figure of a camel; like many prehistoric sites, Torre Llafuda continued to be occupied well into Roman times and possibly much later.
