this is the sort of place that makes seeking out Menorca's ancient monuments worthwhile even if you have no interest in archaeology. Turn right off the Alaior to Cala En Porter road 5km south of Alaior at the crossroads marked 'Cami de Cutaines'; park at the farm and follow red arrows through the fields to reach the taula precinct, enclosed by its original wall. A perfectly preserved stone archway, perhaps 3,000 years old, guards the precinct as you stoop beneath the ancient arch you wonder just how many people have stood there before you and why.
