PUNTANATI
Drive out here on a windy day or better still, take a bike and you will see why Menorca is called an island of stones and wind. The 6km road to the island's northwestern tip has little to offer apart from endless vistas of a barren, rocky landscape punctuated by stepped pants, the dry stone sheep and cattle sheds which protect the livestock from the extremes of the weather and help clear the fields of unwanted stones. On the wind buffeted headland, as ever, the lighthouse is off limits, but you can walk along the cliffs to a couple of deserted coves.
