GALA SANTANDRIA BEACH

This long, narrow creek, just 3km south of Ciutadella, would be pretty if it did not get so crowded. Along with its satellite cove Sa Caleta, it is  the beach which Ciutadellans head for at weekends. There are several bars and restaurants, and all the usual facilities, including hire of pedal boats, umbrellas and Loungers.

This pair of beaches between Fornells and Cap de Cavalleria is reached either by taking the sign to 'Platges de Fornells' just outside Fornells and driving through the Menorca Country Club, or by following the dusty track 2km along the road to Cavalleria which leads to the main beach Both beaches are backed by dunes, marshland and a lake that attracts wading birds. The larger beach has a bar where you can hire umbrellas and sun beds; there are also facilities for windsurfing and catamaran sailing. Swimming is safe and this is a good beach for children.
