CALA MORELL
Eight kilometres from Ciutadella on the otherwise deserted north-east coast, Cala Morell is best known for its remarkable collection of prehistoric caves. Dating from the late Bronze and early Iron Ages, and used both as burial caves and as dwellings, they feature circular chambers with central pillars plus windows, chimneys and raised sleeping areas Some even have elaborately carved motifs on their facades It is easy to get into most of the caves; if your appetite is whetted, finds from these caves are on display at the Museu de Menorca in Mao and the Museu Municipal in Ciutadella.
