ARENAL DE SON SAURA BEACH
One of Menorca's prettiest beaches is also one of the hardest to reach. To get there by car you have to cross farmland and in summer the farmer levies a toll; this is one of the last remaining beaches where the island government has not yet managed to buy up the land in order to create free access.
If you don't want to drive, you can walk from Cala En Turqueta (1 hour) on the coastal footpath from Son Xoriguer to Cala Santa Galdana. It is worth the effort two long stretches of white sand, hidden behind fragrant pine woods and neatly divided by a woody outcrop. There are no beach facilities even in summer, so take a picnic.
