MUSEO NACIONAL DE ANTROPOLOGIA MADRID

This would be dull were it not for the quirky objects on display. School children rush to the ghoulish Room III, to the left of the main entrance, to see the skeleton of the Gigante Extremeno, Spain's tallest man. Agustin Luengo Capilla, who died in 1849, aged 26, was an astonishing 2.35m tall. Most of the building is devoted to tribal relics: big gods and little gods, wooden shields and dugout canoes. Other children's favorites include Brazilian feathered headdresses and gruesome shrunken heads dangling in a glass case.
