Guinate Tropical Park  Guinate Lanzarote

The Guinate Tropical Park in Lanzarote is one of the top tourist attractions in the Canaries, and it is situated in the northern part of the island, in the province of Haria.

Sitting at the foot of Mount Corona, in the Valley of a Thousand Palms, the park is situated near an extinct volcano, which is also the highest point in Lanzarote.

The park lies in 45,000m2 of gardens, lakes and waterfalls, and is home to many species of birds, fish and reptiles. Visitors can enjoy spectacular views of La Graciosa, Alegranza and Montana Clara from the nearby Famara Cliffs, 400 metres above sea level.

Birds in the park include Penguins, Ostriches, Flamingos, Cranes, Hornbills, Macaws, Owls, Finches and Toucans, and a huge walk-through aviary is one of the main attractions in the park. Surroundings also include a large Koi carp lake, and the penguin enclosure shows visitors an insight into the playful and intriguing behaviour of the birds with an underwater viewing panel. Information panels throughout the park explain the diet, place of origin and latin names of the birds and animals. Wallabies, Meerkats, Yellow Mongoose, Otters and Lemurs are also resident at the park, and there is a continuous breeding programme at the park of many species, which is aided by the temperate Tenerife climate.

A large variety of plants, shrubs and trees grow in the park, and the impressive cactus walk on the hillside offers superb views over the park itself and down to the flamingo pool below. Parrot shows are performed throughout the day at the on-site theatre which seats 200 people. There is also a children´s play area where the kids can let off some steam and a bar/café nearby so you can keep an eye on them. Penguin feeding can also be viewed at specified times in the park.
