TORROX COSTA MALAGA
Along the eastern end of the Costa del Sol, situated between Torre del Mar and Nerja, is the resort of Torrox Costa. Torrox consists basically of a long stretch of beach, backed with modern apartment blocks, sympathetically designed with reflections of the Moorish style of architecture.
The resort has been developed primarily for summer visitors, when it bustles. The beach offers a number of water-sports, while an extended promenade offers the visitor a pleasant stroll along the seafront, with a reasonable choice of restaurants, bars and shops. You might like to take a look at the church of La Encarnacion and the Hermitage of Nuestra Señora de las Nieves, both of which still retain traces of Moorish influences. Scattered along the coast are a few old watchtowers and small fortresses, going back to the times when there was a threat of pirate invasion. Some 4km inland lies the old town of Torrox; built up the steep slopes of the hill, its whitewashed houses make an attractive pattern.
