Seville
Although Seville is not strictly part of the Costa del Sol, if you are visiting southern Spain, this incredible city is only a 2 hour drive from Malaga. Seville is a vibrant and passionate city, and if you want to experience the ´real´ Spain, this is the place to come. The April Fair is one of the biggest festivals of its kind in Spain where men and women don Spanish costume and ride horseback through the streets, with lively and colourful processions taking place throughout the city. If you prefer to visit Seville during the spring time, average temperatures hit 24ºC in May, and rise to a very hot 40ºC in July and August.
If you are visiting Seville for the first time, a must-see monument is the breathtaking Seville Cathedral. This Baroque Cathedral is one of the biggest cathedrals in the world, and visitors can climb to the top of the Giralda Tower to enjoy stunning views over the city. The tomb of Christopher Columbus also lies in the cathedral, and the building is open to the public most days. Admission charge is around €15 per person. Santa Cruz, where the cathedral is situated, is one of the liveliest parts of Seville, and narrow streets are home to quaint shops, pavement cafés and tapas bars, and some of the most famous sights in Seville. It is worth taking a city tour by horse and carriage to see most of the city´s sights, which is priced around €50.
