Ronda
Ronda is one of the most visited white towns in Andalucia. Straddling 150 metres above a deep gorge, the town is divided in two by the Puente Nuevo Bridge, which was built in the 18th Century. Visitors can enjoy stunning views over the gorge and surrounding countryside. The Bullring is also worth a look. Reputed to be the oldest bullring in Spain, visitors can take a tour of the arena and museum.
The 13th century Arabic Baths are also well worth a visit, along with the Bandit´s Museum, which was opened to commemorate the lives of the bandits and highwaymen who used to rob the rich visitors around the mountains and hillsides of Ronda. The cobbled streets of old Ronda offer plenty of pavement cafés, tapas bars and restaurants to suit all tastes and budgets. The town of Ronda was one of the last Spanish towns to fall to the Christians after Moorish rule came to an end in 1485, and one of the main attractions is the Palacio de Mondragón, which was built in 1314 and became a retreat for the Spanish monarchy. If you intend staying in Ronda, check out some of the small hotels and boutique hotels just outside the town centre. Ronda is approximately 1 hour, 15 minutes drive from Malaga Airport.
