Marbella
Marbella is one of the most visited towns on the Costa del Sol, and its beautiful beaches, wide seafront promenade and luxurious hotels and five-star restaurants continue to attract visitors from all over the world. There is much more to Marbella, however than first meets the eye, and if you take your time to explore the cobbled streets of the old town and Orange Square, you can find some of the best tapas bars, pavement cafés and restaurants that won´t cost a fortune. Although Marbella has a rich and glitzy reputation, there are plenty of cheaper places to eat and drink, and Malaga is now much more accessible after the budget airlines opened more routes to the region.
If you want to relax in Marbella, take your time to stroll along the attractive seafront promenade which is lined with bars and restaurants, and stretches as far as Puerto Banus, (about 3-4km away). You can also take a boat trip to Puerto Banus for around €10 from Marbella port. Marbella night life includes flamenco bars, clubs, discos, karaoke, piano bars, live entertainment and comedy clubs. Some of the most exclusive clubs and restaurants are situated along the Golden Mile, which links Marbella with Puerto Banus, but you can also find a great choice of eateries on the seafront and around Orange Square. Marbella Feria takes place in June every year, and thousands of revellers take to the streets to join in the fun. Every street corner sees live entertainment in the form of singers, dancers and street entertainers, and there is a massive funfair at night which carries on until the early hours. Make for the main park in the centre of Marbella to join in the daytime fun, with live music, bars and colourful processions bringing the town to life. There are over 30 golf courses in and around Marbella, and the Costa del Sol is home to over 70 courses, including the championship courses at Valderrama and Sotogrande. Marbella is about 50 minute´s drive from Malaga Airport.
