Casares
Casares is situated near Manilva on the western Costa del Sol, and it is one of the most picturesque villages on the coast. Perched high on a mountain top with winding narrow streets and incredible views over the countryside, Casares is a typical Andalucian village, steeped in history, which was once a stronghold of the Moors. Within easy driving distance of Estepona, Marbella and Gibraltar, Casares attracts plenty of day trippers and ex-pats who want to relocate to Spain. Casares is also a bird-watcher´s paradise, and eagles can often be seen swooping above the village.
Visitors can see Gibraltar and the coastline of north Africa from Casares, and there are plenty of shops, bars and restaurants in the village to suit all tastes. White washed houses line the streets, and remains of the original Moorish fort can still be seen. Nature walks can be taken to explore the surrounding countryside, and there are plenty of places to view the local wildlife. If you want to combine a holiday in the countryside with all the trappings of a beach resort, Manilva and Sabanillas are just minutes away from Casares by car. Casares is approximately 1 hour, 15 minutes drive from Malaga Airport.
