RAMBLA AND RIU ONYAR GIRONA

The Rambla beside the River Onyar is the hub of Girona's social life, and the best place to see it all is from one of the cafes beneath the vaulted arches The Pont de Pedra, the stone bridge at the top of the Rambla, looks down over the river, with its iron and wooden bridges and brightly painted tenement houses backing on to the water. One of the bridges, the Pont de les Peixateries, cuts directly through the houses and on to the Rambla. It was built for the city by the French firm of Eiffel and Company, creators of the famous tower in Paris.
