L ESTARTIT Costa Brava

What was once little more than a fishing harbor, serving the nearby town of Torroella de Montgri  has grown into a bustling, modern holiday resort with a reputation for night life and a thriving water sports industry. The main attraction here is the beach, which stretches for 5km and is backed by a seafront promenade. This is a good resort for families with young children the water is shallow, the sand shelves gently and a miniature train trundles along the seafront. Unlike some of the larger resorts to the south, L'Estartit virtually closes down in winter, when all the locals retreat to Torroella de Montgri. A popular attraction in summer is a boat trip to the Medes Islands, 1 km offshore.
