L'Emporda National Park Costa Brava

 

L'Emporda National Park is a protected area of marshland taking up 4866 hectares, situated on the Costa Brava, Spain. It is made up of three nature reserves; Le Llaunes, les Estanys and Illa de Caramany. The three nature reserves attract a wide variety of vegetation and animal life, especially birds. You will find over 320 different species of birds in L'Emporda National Park including stork, bittern, gallinule, marsh harrier and the grey shrike.

The landscape here is very impressive, combining salt water wetlands with fresh water ponds and dunes that become the winter living place for many bird species.

CONTACT DETAILS: Visits are arranged through the visitor centre located in the old Cortalet farm, between Sant Pere Pescador and Castelló D'Ampuries.

OPENING HOURS: Open every day.

GETTING THERE: The park is situated between the tourist resorts of Roses and Figueres on the Costa Brava.

ENTRANCE: Free.
