ARCHAEOLOGICAL MUSEUM GIRONA
This museum, in the 12th century Romanesque monastery of Sant Pere de Galligants, contains an interesting collection of artifacts, from prehistoric to medieval times. Among the finds are Roman pottery and mosaics from Empuries and three Roman milestones indicating the distance to Gerunda, the Roman name for the city. The cloister is notable for its beautifully sculpted capitals of mythological and biblical figures. The gardens around the back, with their shady fountains and views of the cathedral, would make a lovely spot for a siesta or a picnic.
