THE CANOLOBRE CAVES ALICANTE
The hills of Cabeyo d'Or, north of Alicante, are riddled with caves and grottoes. This impressive limestone cavern, with one of the highest vaults in Spain, has been skillfully illuminated to show off the stalactites, stalagmites and strange limestone formations. Among the many odd shapes is one known as the canalobre, candelabra, from which the cave gets its name.
