EGYPTIAN MUSEUM

 Although some of the pieces in the expansive Egyptian collection belonging to the owner of the Derby Hotels can be seen in the Claris and Hotel Balmes, the bulk of them are here at this impressive museum. From beautifully carved sarcophagi to everyday utensils, sculpture, jeweler and mummified animals, the well-ordered exhibits are spread out over two floors of this pretty Eixample mansion and span more than 3,000 years of fascinating Egyptian culture.

There are special night visits during summer during which actors dressed in full Egyptian regalia perform scenes from Cleopatra's life, ending in a banquet held on the rear terrace.
