How to get to Spain
Spain's location and popularity makes it an extremely accessible destination, whether arriving by plane, train, car or boat. Spain's airports are among the most widely-serviced in the world, particularly for visitors from the UK, where almost every British airport has a regular, low-cost service to various parts of Spain. The major cities of London, Birmingham, Manchester, Newcastle and Edinburgh all have an exhaustive selection of daily flights, with the airports of Malaga, Murcia and Alicante especially well-serviced.
All four corners of Spain have large airports, and the neighbouring airports of Faro in Portugal, Gibraltar airport and Marseille's airport in France mean that, even farther afield, Spain is never more than a short drive away. Motorists can drive through France to reach northern Spain, and the abundance of EU-funded superhighways criss-crossing the country means it is one of Europe's most pleasant drives. Alternatively, there is a regular ferry service from Portsmouth and Plymouth which goes direct to the northern ports of Santander and Bilbao.
Spain's rail network is slowly evolving too, with the cities of Barcelona and Madrid enjoying high-speed links to the rest of Europe, and Malaga and Seville in the south particularly well-linked to other parts of the country.
