One of Andalucia´s most unique festivals is held every December in the town of Torrox.

Situated just 12km from the lively resort town of Nerja, Torrox is famous for the traditional peasant dish of Migas, which consists of breadcrumbs, olive oil and pieces of meat, which are cooked in a huge cauldron in the main square.

Up to 2,000 kilos of flour and 500 litres of olive oil are used to make the migas, and platefuls of this tasty dish are then served up to visitors and locals along with potato salad and glasses of local red wine.

The Migas Festival launches Torrox into its festive celebrations, and usually takes place the Sunday before Christmas Day.  Music, dancing and a market selling crafts from the region follow lunch, and the party continues on into the night.
