
Bellver Castle
Bellver Castle is located in Palma de Mallorca, 3km from the centre, and is an fun and educational day out whilst on holiday in Mallorca. The Castle is situated on the top of a hill, in the largest green area in Mallorca; The Bellver Wood. This gothic style Castle was built by the King of Mallorca Jaume II, as a military fortress, between 1309 and 1311. The Bellver Castle is circular in layout, and is one of the most popular places of interest on the island for tourists to visit. The castle was also once used as a prison, when the Spanish were being prosecuted for their loyalty to the Republic during the Spanish Civil War between 1936-39. Within the castle, you will find the City History Museum, featuring archaeological excavations and artefacts from the castle.

OPENING TIMES: From October until March: Daily: 8 am - 8 pm. Sundays and public holidays: 10 am - 5 pm. From April until September: Daily: 8 am - 9 pm. Sundays and public holidays: 10 am - 7 pm. Sundays and public holidays the museum is closed.
