Park Cueva Pintada
The Cueva Pintada, meaning painted cave, was discovered in 1862, and is an educational place of interest in Gran Canaria to visit. Located in Galdar, The Cueva Pintada itself contains geometric paintings, which were once used as cave houses by the Guanche. They used to dig out rooms within the stone and made furniture from the soft rock. Archaeologists found tools, mummies and pottery within the caves, but the most interesting find was the paintings of red, black and white squares and swirls upon the cave walls. On the Cueva Pintada Park site, a museum has been recently opened to provide an educational insight to the caves, along with more archeological history about the Canary Island. The Cueva Pintada Park undoubtedly provides a place of exploration, and is a great place of interest to visit in Gran Canaria.
